Maybern

Fintech for fund management. Invested at seed.

This absolute unit raised at a $20MM valuation with no deck (true story).

“Name Redacted” Fintech

Invested at seed. Founder is my roommate.

He made me take the name out because he has “privacy and reputational concerns.” To paint a picture for you, this is the same guy who lowers the blinds in the middle of the day because, in his words, “people may be peeping.”

The point of even having this apartment is that we get the nice natural sunlight and if we aren’t going to take advantage of that, why not just live in the basement? If sunniness is not important to you, then why make me pay the additional $100 a month to have the skylight in my room?

Think about it, Jake.

Quantinuum

Ever heard of quantum computing? Well, we hadn’t either, until we were approached by a nice man representing an SPV that seems to invest in other SPVs, who promised to get us into the premier quantum company in the world.

We gave that nice man some money, and are really hoping it ended up where it was supposed to go.

Light Phone

Invested at seed.

A stripped-down cell phone.

MetaProp

This is a fund we put money into so logging it as an accomplishment is BS, but it did invest in Side which is now a unicorn. So there.

ILWE

LinkedIn for creatives. Invested at pre-seed.

The company is no more, but they gave it a helluva run. And we wrote a letter of rec for the founder’s MBAxMS at Columbia, where they are now happily studying. Now that’s a value-add investor.
